Blog Assignment #6

The essay I chose to read is "The House Racing Industry: Issues and Reforms" by Christa Kurman.
As the example of paraphrase, I choose the sentance in paragraph 2" The bigest problem with the Thoroughbred of today is that large, muscular bodies and exceptionally narrow legs are desirable traits in the breeding world, Horses bred this way experience lower leg injuried, like the one suffered by Eight Belles, because the weight and strngth of their hindquarters overwhelems delicate structures in the lower legs(Kluger 54). As far as I am concerned, I think it's not only a paraphrase, it's also a topic sentence of this paragraph, author does great work in generalizing the source in his own words.
The example of quatation I found is in the 12th paragraph,"" he's just out of gas"(qtd. in Rhoden and Drape)" The quatation here is used as an internal documentation which means the sentance is directly picked from the original source. And in this paragraph, the author takes a specific event mentioned in a book for the example of steroid withdraw. And in my opinion, the quoted sentence can make the result of steroid withdraw more impressive and relevant to author and original source's mean.
Overall, both ways of researchs are fantastic in writing essays. We should use them as often as possible and follow the rules at the same time.

Blog Assignment #5

I always do not believe that history can be completely believed because everyone views the history from different angle. The Chinese says"Losers are always in the wrong", it might be a great interpretation of puzzling history.
Thus, I think it would be interesting to put the history in a totally opposite way which is wrotten by the losers. For the instance, the second world war. Because of the final victory of British camp, all actions of Germany, Italy and Japan during the war have been branded as eveil, dsgrace and inhuman and they will be recorded in the history of human civilization permanently. Like us, we remember the crazy Nazi and Massacre in Nanjing. However, we overlook what winners did such as raping on millions of German women by Soviet Red Army and awful atom bomb, which become well-deserved and full of glory after the victory.
And then, let us turn around and imagine that, what the world will be like if German won the war. How will history evaluate Nanjing Massacre? or the holocaust of Jews? And will there still be the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq? At least nothing about the all kinds of evil we can see today.
War is not so terrible, it can not be avoided in the history. The terrible things is that people are always being confused about right or wrong caused by kind of force like "losers are always in the wrong". Losers do not have right to speak, so only we can do is to respect and protect history.
